What are Essential Oils?
It’s funny how things go out of style and then years later make a comeback as if they never existed.
I wonder when wigwam socks and big hair will make a comeback…..never I hope!
Many people seem to think that essential oils are something new, but they are actually making a comeback. Essential oils have been around for thousands of years. Ancient civilizations have used essential oils for medicine, beauty care, cooking, and more.
Before there was prescription medicine, people used plant-based medicine for their healthcare needs.
Essential oils are all natural and come from a variety of plants, trees, flowers, and fruits. They are made from a volatile aromatic compound that is extracted from these plants. This compound provides the plant with protective and regenerative benefits, as well as its beautiful aroma. Yes, essential oils smell amazing, but their health benefits are far more incredible!
Pure medical grade essential oils have a variety of benefits for both physically and emotionally concerns.
It is important to note that not all essential oils are created equal. Many oils claim to be pure but are not. These oils have been diluted or artificial ingredients have been added. This is why I only use essential oils from dōTERRA.
dōTERRA oils are sourced from experienced growers and harvesters from over 40 countries around the world. These plants are grown in their ideal environment and are carefully distilled and tested. In addition, a third-party tests the oils to ensure their potency and purity.
Lastly, one of my favorite resources for information on using essential oils is a book called The Essential Life. This book will guide you on how to safely and effectively use essential oils topically, aromatically, and internally.
